In the World of Wellness: Lies the Marketing People Tell Us

Wellness is a term widely used that has multiple meanings around health and positive life style changes leading to well-being. Here we will use the term "wellness" as a means of defining a life free from disease as well as a way to explore alternative medicines, what they offer, and what this could mean for you.

In the World of Wellness: "Cruelty Free" lies and a company that's trying to change that

I recently learned a cold, hard truth.

Those "not tested on animal" labels are a lie. There is absolutely nothing FDA approved that hasn't been tested on animals. Nothing.

"Cruelty Free" and "Not Tested on Animals" is something I've always looked for. It's something I always wanted to honor and support. I recently found out (through a friend who works behind the scenes with government testing of medicines and what not) that it's quite simply a lie in great form.

While the product itself may not have been tested on animals, each and every ingredient that makes up the product has, at one time or another, been tested on animals. And that's how they get away with their lies, my friends.

Now, don't break down into a little ball of tears and desolation. I discovered a company, The Leaping Bunny, who addresses this very thing. Currently, they support European consumers but offer a link to many onsite companies that anyone can shop from. The companies on their site pass their standards of no animal testing being conducted for "...finished products or ingredients in any phase of product development by the company, its laboratories or it's suppliers after a fixed cut-off date".

So what does that mean? It means this company is trying to ensure those sneaky, dastardly marketing lies stop and that (where possible in other countries where products are manufactured) neither the product as a whole or any individual ingredients are or ever have been tested on animals.

I love them.
