Now We All Fall Down
In history
Of lessons learned,
Of cultures tortured,
People burned-
Where unimagined
Evil’s lurked-
Still we punish
Those who hurt.
The blood’s been spilled,
The battle fought-
We always want
More than we’ve got
True satisfaction
Can’t be bought-
No life is worth
A life that’s lost.
No victory
Has fixed the world,
Not one religion
Has the cure,
No single person
Can be sure
That there’s one answer
For the earth.
In all we know,
In all we’ve done,
With all the lessons
That have come,
With every memory
Of every wrong-
Still we push
And all fall down.
